Gig Of The Century

Gig Of The Century

“It was a last minute announcement for something very, very special. After being locked in around lunchtime yesterday, some of the finest live acts in the country joined for a pay-as-you-feel fundraiser for Brissy community radio station 4ZZZ. And by all accounts, it was a bloody ripper.

Featuring a spoken word opening from Joelistics, the gig featured sets from Jess Locke, High Tension, The Smith Street Band and Violent Soho.
Much like Soho’s recent Sydney show, there was some collaborative action from Smith Street Band’s Wil Wagner.

The show took place as part of the recent #keepcommunityradio movement following the coalition government’s $1.4m defunding. Organisers of the gig told triple j that the even managed to raise $3500 for 4ZZZ.” – FasterLouder

ABOUT THE PROJECT

I’ve been covering Violent Soho work on their upcoming album, titled Waco. The photos in this project were taken while they recorded their album at The Shed in Brisbane, filmed their film clip for ‘Like Soda’ at The Bardon Bowls Club, toured ‘Like Soda’ in Australia, signed WACO albums on its release, played around the country on Laneway Festival, and toured the album around Australia with Dune Rats and DZ Deathrays. View the entire Violent Soho photo project.
